Cyndi Lee is one of the greatest yoga teachers on the planet. She's a teacher of mine, an inspiration, and I wouldn’t be where I am in my career as a yoga teacher without her. Was a blast (and honor!) to chat with her on this podcast. What we talk about:
Cyndi Is the founder of OM yoga, and is the first female Western yoga teacher to fully integrate yoga asana and Tibetan Buddhism in her practice and teaching. Her newest book is the The New York Times critically acclaimed May I Be Happy: A Memoir of Love, Yoga and Changing My Mind. Her frequent TV appearances include the Dr. Oz Show; Live with Regis and Kathie Lee; Good Morning, America and she has a cameo in Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Want to Have Fun video, which she choreographed in 1983. Cyndi holds a MFA in Dance from UC Irvine and is a long time student of Gelek Rimpoche. To find Cyndi and her many wonderful offerings and trainings go here. *Don't forget about our Book-giveaway! If you leave a review on Itunes for the show between now and Next Wed (1 week!) till the 25th, You'll be entered to win Cyndi's Book, "May I be Happy". Any takeaways from the show? I've known and loved Nadia for many years. She inspires me with her deep commitment of helping women reclaim their bodies. She's fiercly feminine and deeply intelligent! Her and I can jam for HOURS about female sexuality, sensuality, being a woman in the world, reclaming our bodies as women, And that's exactly what we did on this episode! We talk about:
Nadia is a Health & Sensuality Coach who guides women to sensual nourishment and embodied power by helping them reconnect to their own body voice. She is immensely passionate about supporting women in their journey back to their embodied essence so they can feel vibrant, alive & free again. Through her Embody dance classes, immersion workshops and one-on-one coaching, Nadia has guided women in over 5 continents in their embodiment journey. You can find her at www.nadiamunla.com or join the conversation at The Embody Tribe FB group. *NOTE* We recorded this episode TWO years ago! So Nadia's offerings are different now (as oppose to what we talked about on the episode and you can find them on her website!) What insights did you have from today? Please let us know in the comments below. #27 Overcoming Jealousy, and what we can learn from it with Sydney Faith Rose on Insight Monday!1/9/2017 0:22:56 | View on iTunes
I've worked with the feeling of Jealousy a lot. It comes up in many ways. But mostly, it's seeing specific things that women in my life have that I don't. Usually pertaining to relationship and career success. It's not fun to feel, but, it's also VERY human and I'm sure you've experienced it as well. But when Jealousy is not examined, I believe it can lead to friendships and relationships breaking down. In this episode, one of my besties and wonderful Buddhist Teacher Sydney Faith Rose and I break down Jealousy. I share a story about a recent experience of jealousy, and what I learned from it. We talk about:
To find Sydney Email her at SyndeyFaithRose@gmail.com and you can take her classes at Dharma Punx NYC, which I highly recommend! What ways have YOU experienced Jealousy? And how did you deal with it? Let us know it comments below. 1:31:42 | View on iTunes
Michael and I were best friends in high school (along with a group of theater friends). He’s still one of my closest soul mates. We went through A LOT together. Curating our identity, discovering the world, and having countless conversations about life. Naturally, after high school, we drifted apart. But in the past few years- have re-discovered our friendship. This episode is full of that love we've always had for each other and such rich conversation! I admire Michael, and was honored to have his fiery, creative, one of a kind-fun self on the show! If you don’t know Michael he recently recently topped the Spotify Viral charts with his single “Manufactured Love”. He’s a pop soul singer with a queer political edge. He’s a professional recording artist for BMG S curve records and debuted the album 'When I get it right' this past summer. We talk about:
If you want more Michael and to listen to his amazing music he's got a show coming up on January 24th at BOWERY BALLROOM get tickets HERE. I'll be there! What was your favorite part of the episode? Any insights? Let me know in comments below! 35:41 | View on iTunes
2017 is here. Happy New Year, friends! I'm starting something super fun. Shorter (specific topic) episodes. Insight Mondays. An insight means seeing into the true nature of reality. (woah...deep). To me, it just means having a true sense of "knowing" something. Knowing it deeply in my bones. Sometimes it'll be just me, sometimes I'll have a guest join me, to dissect topics from a buddhist/dharmic perspective. Because really, Buddhism (which I view as an embodied philosophy as oppose to a religion) has been such spiritual medicine for me the past 8 years. I've chosen lots of great topics- but curious, do you have any you'd like me to discuss? Today's episode is all about actually COMMITTING TO YOUR NEW YEARS INTENTIONS (ahem- those "fun" resolutions) you set for yourself. Aka, building healthy habits. And making this year YOUR best year yet. I'm joined by Sydney Faith Rose. Sydney is a buddhist teacher and teaches regularly at Dharma Punx NYC, a holistic health coach, yoga teacher, and lifelong meditator. She's brilliant and one of my closest friends. We're also housemates (with two other lovely humans) and have these conversations all the time, so it felt very natural to have her on the show! If you'd like to reach her you can at sydneyfaithrose@gmail.com We talk about:
Enjoy! What are some of your intentions for 2017? I'd love to hear them below. |
