Myq Kaplan is one of my favorite comedians. He's been on the Tonight Show, Last comic standing, and  America's got talent (and more!) His standup special on Netflix "Small, Dork, and Handsome" is one of my favorite specials ever. He also hosts his own wonderful podcast called "Hang Out with Me" on the Kieth and The Girl Network.

I've known Myq for a few years and he's a fun, kind, and loving human being. On this episode we delve into the world of dating, advice around dating and comedy. He also just came out with a new Comedy album! All about how he doesn't wanna have kids, and other interesting things. I promise it'll make you laugh! Find it here.

On the episode we talk about:
  • Dating and how to be yourself in dating
  • How sex, hormones, and physical attraction can cloud judgment in Dating
  • Myq's preference towards open relationships and why he feels that way
  • His new Comedy Album
  • How loving and caring and honoring yourself in dating is important
  • How we can always choose to love and cultivate that energy even if we aren't dating anyone and how important that is!
  • The similarities of writing and creating good comedy and dating

Would love to hear from you! Any parts of this episode touch your heart? Any takeaways?

Ralph De La Rosa is a human I've wanted to connect with for a while. Many of my closest friends love him and his work. Ralph and I had a passionate, meaningful, and heart centered conversation around his healing journey.

It's not a simple one. Ralph struggled with drug addiction for many years after growing up with lots of challenges. After becoming nearly homeless, he moved to NYC with $400 in his pocket.

Since then, he's become a psychotherapist, an incredible meditation teacher, life coach, and healer himself. And one of the things I love about him is how honest he is about his struggles, AND what WE can all do ourselves to shift our relationship to our own hearts and minds to transform our own challenges and vulnerabilities so they become our greatest strengths.

On the episode we talk about:
  • How there's nothing wrong with your wounds, they are the doorway into your greatest gifts
  • How goals can be attainable if we show up for them on a daily bases
  • Just because you're spiritual and practicing in a community, you can still have very unhealthy tendencies
  • How if we allow others to help us, amazing things can happen
  • Impermanence and how anything can change in a moments notice
  • IS there a god? If so, how does he manifest in the world?
  • Death being a great teacher and awakener
  • The benefits of Meditation

Listen full through, it's one of my favorite episodes ever and cracked my heart wide open! To find Ralph and work with him and his many offerings go here.

What moved you in this episode? I'd love to here below.

Kelly MacLean hosts one of my favorite podcasts: The Tao of Comedy. I fell in love with it and her a few months ago and knew I had to have her on the show. We both LOVE comedy, practice in the same lineage of Buddhism. Basically, a match made in podcasting heaven! This is definitely one of my favorite episodes ever.

Kelly is a comedian and writer. She's Featured in The Guardian, Huffington Post, and is the author of surviving whole foods (an article on huffington post that went viral) Her podcast features some of my favorite comedians: Duncan Trussell and Pete Holmes!

 We talk about:
  • Death and what it can teach us (Kelly's brother died a year or so ago, and the recent death of my Grandma)
  • The Tao of Comedy podcast
  • Comedy and the importance of finding the joke in everything
  • Comedy as a path to enlightenment
  • Sexuality and creativity
  • The buddhist concept of Basic Goodness
  • Kelly's love of Comedy and why she fell in love with it in the first place

What has death taught you? Would love to hear from you. If you enjoyed the episode please share it with your friends. That is so appreciated!

On this episode of Insight Monday we talk about having teachers, gurus, idols, and role models. Certain teachers have changed my life. I wouldn't be the same person without them. Spiritual teachers on the path of awakening are crucial.

But there has to be a moment where we also begin to have a true sense of self trust. Actual growth is beginning to have that for ourselves.

 We talk about:
  • Why it's GREAT and important to have teachers you trust, they can show you a mirror of who you are
  • Why having teachers can sometimes keep us stuck where we are
  • The danger of putting teachers on a pedastal
  • Why It's important to have teachers that give us back our power
  • How we're often looking for a parent in teachers, and understanding we have to become that for ourselves

To find Sydney Email her at SydneyFaithRose@gmail.com and you can take her classes at Dharma Punx NYC, which I highly recommend!

Who are your major teachers? What have they taught you?

On this episode I'm joined by one of my favorite artists Martin Whitfooth. Martin and I met a few years ago on a plant medicine retreat. I had never taken any sort of pyschedlic (and was naturally nervous) and Martin instantly put me at ease with his playful and kind energy. We had a profound experience together (along with the whole circle we sat with) and came away with new perspectives and view points on life.

In episode we talk about:
  • The incredible benefits of Ayahuasca. (with a good and TRUSTED shaman)
  • When using powerful medicines (such as psychedelics) it's crucial to know your intention
  • Why keeping your individuality in romantic relationship is important (in our opinion)
  • How doing what you love is important for one's health
  • How we're often looking for a parent (or a higher authority) in religion but how we have to become our own loving parent

Hope this episode has been eye opening. Check out Martin's art and find him here. I'd love to hear from you, have you taken plant medicines? What's been your experience?
