Jacques and I met a few years ago. I was having a hard time letting go of some relationship patterns in my life (that were hurting me) and a session with Jacques changed all that. Seriously, this man knows what he's doing and he's a wonderful and efficient healer!

We talk about:
  • What shamanism is and how it works
  • How having a clean home helps with having cleanliness in general in your life
  • How when you have a healing with a shaman- it's you healing yourself- they are just giving you the tools
  • How children are true to themselves in such an inspiring way, and are always embodying what’s happening in the world
  • People miss nature- and therefore shamanism can be such great gateway back to it
  • Why it's important to be fully supported if you decide to go the plant medicine route!

I also reveal a new (weekly mini episode!) I'm going to do on the show starting this coming Monday!

Have you worked with a shaman before? I'd love to hear your experience. If you want to learn more about Jacques go here.

Kimberly Brown is a woman I deeply admire. She's the executive director of the Interdependence Project (IDP) for short. It's is the only multi lineage secular Buddhist center in New York City committed to personal development and collective engagement through contemplative practice. I owe that place so much. It opened my eyes to buddhism and meditation, and living a sane and (fairly) happy and grounded life. No big deal!

I also took a yearlong teacher training there to become a certified meditation teacher. That training was with the brilliant Ethan Nichtern (founder of IDP) and I highly recommend it!

In this delightful episode Kim and I had a great time connecting on many things. She's grounded, deep, kind, and SO passionate about Buddhism and Meditation- it's inspiring. She has a background in psychotherapy and works with individuals, couples, and groups, and trains business leaders and teams to become more connected, kind, and resilient for themselves and others.

We talk about:
  • How meditation helped Kim with anxiety
  • How true compassion isn't always ooey gooey and loving, sometimes it's sharp and intense and may not always feel good
  • The difference between being "needy" and finding mutual beneficial support in relationships
  • Appreciating and honoring our desire to connect as human beings and our deep need to have intimacy (and that it's a beautiful thing!)
  • How to stop people pleasing, and standing in your power
  • Why finding the right type of Meditation practice for you is super important (there are many kinds!)
  • Why the concept of "ordinary simple things" and "everything is sacred" are actually the same thing!

Ladies, if you’re like me you HATE your period. It hurts like a mofo and you drown yourself in advil, chocolate, creamy foods, and Netflix (Gilmore Girls, anyone?). You also consider not going to work and sometimes even miss work because you’re in so much pain.

It’s bad out there (or down there in our lovely lady parts- I should say!) Thankfully, there are women like Nicole. Shes dedicated to helping women fix their periods.

Nicole and I met a few years ago. I was a guest Meditation teacher in a program she was running (that was fun Nicole!) and I saw her this summer at a mutual friend's wedding and knew I had to have her on the show.

Nicole is a Certified Women’s Health + Functional Nutrition Coach. She's studied with incredible people and is currently enrolled in a 1-year training program with the Kresser Institute for Functional and Evolutionary Medicine. She really knows her stuff.

We talk about:
  • The phases of the Menstrual cycle
  • How our emotions effect our periods
  • Nicole's take on birth control
  • Different period apps that are really awesome and can help you track everything
  • What simple things you can do every day to help you have easier (LESS PAINFUL OR EVEN PAIN FREE) periods.

I met Charmaine Haworth three years ago at the Trailblazers Retreat in Costa Rice. I felt slightly intimidated by her. She was radiant, kind, and confident in a way I hadn't witnessed before in a woman! Then I immediately softened when we started talking. Her vulnerability and kindness put me at ease, and I learned a lot from her by being around her.

This podcast episode was no different. She's got warmth and presence and shared many insightful ideas with me. Personal, beautiful, REALLY moving stories about her life. And she gives us some incredible tips on how to overcome challenge.

Charmaine is a Coach, Speaker and Healer. She works with Women AND Men all around the world helping them create the lives they really want and become the truest and most expressive version of themsleves. More charmaine here: http://www.charmainehaworth.com

We talk about:
  • The two main events that happened in Charmaine's life that shaped a lot of behavioral patterns that kept her stuck for many years, and how she re-wrote her story
  • How anyone can do that. We are not limited by our past and can always find a new way of being in the world.
  • How to be a feminine woman AND change the world
  • How your body has so many answers, and if you quiet and slow down you can hear the answers to questions you have
  • How to give yourself compassion when you're going through something challenging, and how that very compassion shifts the whole dynamic of the challenge, makes it workable and something to really learn from

Let us know one take away from the episode in the comments below!
